Advantages of bidirectional linked notes#

• 1. Bidirectional linked notes provide the ability for reverse thinking. If I have used the same information element elsewhere, I may not be aware of it in general notes, but bidirectional linked notes will automatically remind me. In general notes, I may skip it directly because I can't remember it, which reduces the element of surprise. This is the benefit of traceability to the source.

• 2. Based on hierarchical folder management, bidirectional linked notes provide a more convenient and flexible management and writing method, namely bidirectional and multi-level nested tags. The following two figures are examples from my Reading page, and all I need to do is write freely. The application of multi-level nested tags is not discussed here.

Can general notes also achieve the advantages of bidirectional linked notes? The answer is yes. General notes can also achieve them, but with additional management troubles.#

• Firstly, there is the management of index tables, which requires manually creating corresponding indexes for each added content.
• Secondly, searching and carrying are relatively inconvenient. The search in general notes relies on the establishment and fixed placement of index tables.
• Finally, there is the trouble of manually creating links, which may require multiple changes due to poor initial structure.
